Memorial Service for Ven. Karuna Dharma, Ven. Thích Thiên-Ân and Ven. Havanpola Ratanasara2/29/2016 IBMC held a two-year anniversary memorial service for Ven. Karuna Dharma on February 28, 2016. The ceremony remembered the life of Ven. Karuna Dharma, the former Abbess of IBMC and a prominent American Buddhist nun, who passed away two years ago. The service also honored the lives of Ven. Thích Thiên-Ân, the founder of IBMC, and Ven. Havanpola Ratanasara, a prominent Theravada monk and the teacher of Ven. Shanti and Ven. Veneetha. Photos by Vincent Lim. IBMC held its annual celebration of the lunar new year on Sunday, February 7, 2016. There was a special blessing ceremony following the usual Sunday service. Photos by Vincent Lim. Rev. Tri Ratna Priya Karuna passed away on January. 16, 2016. He became a monk at the 1994 Grand Ordination at IBMC and was known for his teachings and practice of pureland Buddhism.
